Journey Planning

It's not always easy to know what transport options are available when making the transition from the car to other modes of transport, but the benefits of leaving the car at home (even if it is one day a week) makes good sense. The following pages are here to help you plan and make choices about the other ways to get to and from work, around town or further afield.

When driving a car, we don't really consider the true cost of the drive. In the UK, on average, it costs over £2,500 per annum to drive a car and that's not including fuel hikes and the cost of parking. Compare that to owning a bike or using the bus, a weekly ticket costs between £17.00 and £24.00, that a difference of between £1,684 and £1,348 per annum.

Being highly dependent on the car also has a bearing on our health, especially if we are not incorporating physical activity into our lives. By walking or cycling to work, there is no need to join a gym or feel the need to be forced onto a running machine after a long day in the office.

The following pages provide information on public transport timetables, walking and cycling routes and the benefits of car sharing.
